Components and assemblies can be clearly defined in two ways.
One approach to technical documentation is model-based definition.
Using the 'model-based definition' method, designers can embed product data directly into the 3D models, creating a reliable and generally valid data source for all processes.
The other form of representation is the technical drawing. Even today, this is still an important means of communication and the medium for fully describing a model.
